Why Is It That When It Rains It Pours?

So, you all know about the recent goings on around here.  As lovely as they’ve been, they’ve gotten worse.  Now, my grandma (Grannie) is in the hospital.  She thought what she had was the flu…she was up all night Wednesday night sick and her arm was left arm was hurting.  About 9 years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer, they did a lumpectomy and also removed all of the lymph channels in the upper left arm/armpit area.  She’s been cancer free for quite some time, but since those channels are gone, she has lymphedema and she’s supposed to wear a supportive sleeve that goes from her wrist to her armpit, which takes fluid buildup and moves it to other parts of the body so it doesn’t sit in her arm and cause it to swell.

She hasn’t been wearing it as of late because it itches and causes dry skin and it’s just annoying wearing it all the time.  So…there’s someone that she used to work with that has the same condition for the same reason and she said that it  happened to her…she had a fever, was sick, felt like she had the flu and her arm hurt…the arm that has no lymph glands.  She ended up in the hospital with a major infection and had to be there for a few days.

Same thing was wrong with Grannie and she was trying to pass it off as the flu.  My dad told her that if she didn’t get off her butt and get to the hospital he was calling 911.  She was pissed he was making her go but did anyhow.  Good thing since it was an infection and could have killed her had she just let it go.

She’s been in there since yesterday and it doing better.  They started her on IV meds and this morning when she called me to remind me to check on the animals she said that her Diastolic blood pressure was very low in the middle of the night when they checked.  Like at 30 low.  It should normally be up around 80.  So they had to give her some meds for that and it was back up around 60 when she had called.  They weren’t sure why it was so low but hopefully she finds out.  If she doesn’t my mom will….she’s good at that kinda stuff!

The kids and I went and surprised her after feeding the animals at her house.  She was happy to see the kids and we had a nice visit.  I know that I have a tendency to ramble on with details, but aparently I deem them important since I never change! lol

We went to Safeway today….I bought some steak and mushrooms for dinner tonight.  Yummy!  I also bought some biscotti.

How Refreshing It Is

You know how my mornings are always hectic….today the kids had a granola bar for breakfast, that’s how “uhggggish” I was.  My stomach was doing a queezy bit and I was just kinda loungin’ around.  We took Shea to school, went to Safeway and to Jack In The Box.  On my way out of the parking lot I noticed my sister-in-laws van so I pulled up to say hi.

We ended up staying there and chattering the whole time while we all ate.  It was nice.  Monica came up from Oregon to see Ramiro and be with Patsy yesterday.  She missed “seeing” him by about an hour.  They were headed over to Janis house to visit everyone and I did the same.  I took my groceries home and got my coffee and headed over to give my condolences.

Family is always so good at pulling together during the tough times.  Patsy was holding her own and doing really well.  She had her two daughters there and her two sisters-in-law and 2 of her many many grandkids, Kalayah and Austin.  We drank coffee, told some stories about years past and had an all around good visit.  She was going to go home and do her best to confine Ramiros things to one room where she can go to grieve and otherwise try not to be reminded of the pain she’s going through.  I’m so proud of her, her kids and my husband Claude for supporting her through this tough time.  As we were leaving, she stated “These kids will be my salvation.”  For such a close nit family, I know she means it.  Claude comes from a family of huggers, kissers and I love yous more so than I did.  The only real huggy type situations in my family included special occasions such as graduations, funerals, long time no see’s, and going aways.  Aside from my grandparents tucking me in with goodnight kisses and a quick sruff of grandpas beard to the cheek, those are my fondest memories of closeness.

I’m happy to be part of such a family, where my kids see and feel the love from both sides of the family now.  My kids call all their relatives accordingly…AUNT Melanie, AUNT Leslie, UNCLE, AUNT Jani, UNCLE Ashlee, and so on.  It’s a term of endearment that the Taylor family has helped instill in us.

I guess this is my way of saying thanks to them for supporting everyone during this time of need and for any and everything else that arises.  I love you guys and thank you for being there for me during these hard times, it’s always appreciated.

You guys out there that aren’t family are awesome and you know who you are.  You’ve supported me just by being a friend, by listening to my nonsense blogs about cleaning, kids, puking rice, and poopy diapers and not necessarily in that order.  You guys are great and I wouldn’t be blabbing if it wasn’t for you!!!  You all have a place here with me and your problems become my problems, because I do care.

Sad

This is just a quick update on Claudes step dad that I talked to you guys about not so long ago.

He hadn’t been doing too well as of late and Claude went over last night and visited with him and his mom.  I wasn’t able to go because of the sick kid stuff, so I feel bad that I wasn’t there to see her last night.

Today his hospice nurse called about 3 and let me know that he’d passed away.  He’s no longer in pain and doesn’t have to struggle with poisioning his body anymore.  I’m sad for Patsy and know that she’s an extremely strong woman who will make it through despite the pain she feels.

Shea understands, but Kalayah and Austin of course don’t really get that Grandpa Ramiro is gone.  Atleast they have pictures of him to remember.

I’m In Lazy Mode Today

Not completely lazy I guess, since I do have laundry going.  The house is fairly clean and it’s quiet right now!  The kids are upstairs resting and I’m having some quiet time that Shea aparently thinks I don’t deserve!  *OMG The front door just opened and scared me to DEATH!*  Damn wind.  Shea actually got really pissed off that I told her and Kalayah to go upstairs while Austin was taking his nap and she screamed at me and stomped her feet and pitched a bitch until I grabbed the wooden spoon off the cupboard and showed it to her.  “I won’t say it again, I swear!”  “I’ll go upstairs!”  “Mom, don’t spank meeeeeeee!”

“GET YOUR ASS UPSTAIRS BEFORE I DOOOO!”

Damn teenaged actin kids these days!  Atleast I can send her butt to school tomorrow!

I’ve been on the phone with dentist A, about dentist B and had to call dentist B back to have them send the records to dentist A and then once dentist A receives the records THEN I can schedule a damn appointment and OMG shut up and leave me alone!

Did you know that for the low low price of cheap food, such as Poptars, you can have your very own XBox 360 knit hat?  Yes indeed, it is true.  I know, I couldn’t believe it either.  All you need are 3 upc and no shipping and handling is required.  They have to be qualified kinds of course, which aren’t the small boxes.  Fricken Grocery Outlet anyhow….it’s THEIR fault for having shit so cheap.  Now all it’s gonna cost me is a stamp or two and in, you know, like a year, we’ll get the damn hat!  I was smart and picked the adult size since we’ll be all grown up and shit by the time we get it.

What a person won’t do for some free loot huh.

I made a grocery list today:

Pledge, coffee, flip flops, and I have coupons for cake mix, frosting and cinnamon rolls/or crescent rolls.  Fucking Safeway and their deals.  That’s it, that was my BIG list.  How exciting huh!

So Much For That

Remember how I said that there was “no need to panic” cuz everything was cool with Shea’s ears?  I was wrong.  She came home Saturday and had a bad headache, her ear hurt and she had a fever.  I gave her some tylenol and that helped with the pain, but she said that her nose bled a couple times and that started to worry me.  By “bled” what she really meant was when she blew her nose there was blood in it, not a bloody nose.  Sunday morning her eyes were goopy and pink and I happened to have some ointment on hand and used that in her eyes to treat pink eye.  For shit sake what ELSE!

This morning I took her to the doctor again and she has an ear infection in the left ear.  The ear that was just checked on Thursday (by a different doctor in the same office) is the one the infection is in of course.  He gave me antibiotics to treat it all together instead of seperately.  These goddamn colds, I’m so sick and tired of dealing with it.  We get over one and here it in 1 week later and everyone is sick again.  AHHHHHHHH!  I just want to scream!

I took Shea to Elma with me to clean Grandma Sandys house and then we picked up her meds when we got back into town and went to the grocery outlet again.  Not that it was necessary.

Yesterday was a really good day for a few different reasons.  Today is looking pretty good too.  Yay!  Happy me!

Hell Yeah, I’m The Mother Fuckin’ Princess

The day started out with a trip to the doctor for Shea. She was having some ear pain and it always concerns me because about 3 years ago she was taken to the hospital for a bad headache and diagnosed with Mastoiditis. Without clicking on the link, Mastoiditis is basically an infection in the bone behind the ear that usually starts with a middle ear infection and progressively gets worse. After she was treated for the infection she had tubes put in both ears and she’s had only a couple instances since then that she’s needed antibiotics.

Yesterday after I picked her up from school she told me that she had a note from the nurse. At first I thought OMG, LICE! Then calmed myself down realizing that they would have called me immediately and had me pick her up from school. Then she told me it was because of an earache. I knew she had a hunk of wax in there so I wasn’t too worried about it.

So today at the doctors office, they cleaned her ear out with a water syringe. The nurse did it two times and nothing came out, and the third time a big ole hunk-o-nasty came out. I was trying to investigate it while it was sloshing about in the water and she was doing the same so I just let her take the dish. She told me it looked like a tube. I said well good, then atleast we know they are both out now (the other one already came out..dunno when). So then the doctor came in again and said there was no redness in there and the pain was most likely caused from the buildup of wax and the fact that she’s getting over a cold.

We were relieved to say the least.

///Disaster Avoided!……

From there, I dropped her off at school just in time for lunch. Kalayah, Austin and I headed to McDonalds for a quick bite (shut up, I know we don’t need it!) then to Dollar Tree to look for some more pretzels and they didn’t have any. I’m not talking about the hard, dry pretzels, I’m talking about soft pretzels that you eat with cheese! YUM! They have a refrigerated/frozen section in there and while most of the shit that’s in there scares me to death, some of it is name brand non-outdated stuff so I figured what the hell we’ll give it a try, and loved ‘em. So instead I ended up buying some other crap that I could have lived without, such as:

~a notepad for the car, some candy (tootsie rolls and starburst), 2 glass jars with colored lids (1 green and 1 orange) to put stuff in on the counter, a tube of lipstick, a picture cutter thingy…it trims photos or papers down to size, a chicken leg shaped tennis ball for Cheyenne-she’s 1 of my parents dogs, and a few other things that I can’t seem to think of.

We got home about 1:20 and then had to turn around and leave at 2:10 to get Shea from school. Sometimes the days don’t seem long enough…that is until after school when the kids are running rampant and I wish it was already bedtime.

It’s time for me to go watch tv and drink my coffee, and maybe devour one of those tootsie rolls!
